Al-Salehi _Cutting trees and razing green spaces under the pretext of investment is a crime against Kirkuk and its people

Head of the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee, Representative Arshad Al-Salehi, confirmed that the Kirkuk governorate has turned into an arena for foreign investors and unknown contractors who exploit investment to acquire land.

Al-Salehi said in a statement issued, that investment in Kirkuk has become a means to destroy, and distort the history of the city, and that cutting down trees under the pretext of investment is a crime against Kirkuk and its people.

Al-Salehi expressed his rejection of the campaign launched by the provincial administration and the Kirkuk mayoralty to cut down trees and bulldoze green spaces in a residential neighborhood in the city center, under the pretext of investment, calling on the judicial authorities and the Integrity Commission to investigate the file of granting investment contracts and licenses, which is marred by a lot of corruption and forgery
