Anwar ul Haq Kakar sworn in as the 8th interim Prime Minister of Pakistan on Monday after former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif nominated him in consultation with the opposition leader.
President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi administered the oath at the President House here in Islamabad. Kakar resigned from his seat in the upper house of the parliament on Monday and took charge as the caretaker prime minister.
Earlier last week, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif sent a summary for the dissolution of the National Assembly to the President over completion of the government tenure. The former Senator and member of Balochistan Awami Party, Anwar ul Haq Kakar will be the interim PM until the general elections in the country. His first task now as the interim premier will be to choose a cabinet to run the country as it heads into an election period. Several political and military leaders including Chairman Senate, Sadiq Sanjrani and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir attended the oath taking ceremony
