Arab Parliament condemns storming of Aqsa Mosque

The Arab Parliament on Thursday denounced, in the strongest possible terms, the storming by a large number of Israeli settlers of Al-Aqsa Mosque right under the nose of Israeli occupation forces.

The parliament said, in a press release, it is astringently opposed to any bid to undermine the existing historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city of Jerusalem.

It cautioned that the continued attempts by occupation settlers and ministers to break into Al-Aqsa Mosque are “unacceptable”, and would escalate the situation in Jerusalem and occupied Palestinian territories and would even drag the entire region into a holy war.

It, therefore, called on the international community and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to live up to their due responsibilities by ceasing such provocative acts and protecting Palestinians and their sanctuaries.

Earlier in the day, Israeli occupation forces stormed Dome of the Rock section at Al-Aqsa mosque, seized its keys and assaulted the guards, while thousands of settlers broke into the mosque, reported the Islamic Awqaf department of Al-Quds.
