Beirut: Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi issued today an urgent statement calling on the international community to "take immediate action to save the children of Gaza, who are suffering from tragic conditions that have reached unprecedented levels of hunger, malnutrition, and lack of medical care."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the statement indicated that the children of Gaza are subjected to systematic starvation and forced deprivation of food, water, and health services, in clear violation of the Child's Right Convention and international humanitarian law, deeming these violations as "war crimes and crimes against humanity."
Al-Yamahi affirmed that saving Gaza's children is a humanitarian duty, and the continued international silence towards this tragedy represents an unacceptable failure to protect the lives of innocents. "The international community has a moral responsibility to take urgent decisions to break the brutal siege on Gaza and allow the entry of food and medical aid," he underlined, calling for permanent and safe humanitarian corridors to ensure the delivery of aid without delay. He also stressed the need to "oblige the occupying Israeli entity to respect its legal and humanitarian obligations towards civilians, especially children."
Al-Yamahi concluded his statement by "affirming that the Arab Parliament will continue its efforts at all political and legal levels to ensure the protection of the rights of Palestinian children," adding, "Children are not parties to conflicts and should not be victims of policies and wars."
