Batroun: MP Gebran Bassil, head of the Free Patriotic Movement, commented on sports development in Batroun during a rally race event, expressing hope that Batroun becomes the capital of sports as it is for tourism. Speaking to LBC, MP Bassil highlighted Batroun's achievements in volleyball and aspirations to win the Lebanese championship this year, with Batroun Club also set to compete in the West Asia Championship.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the FPM leader noted progress in football, mini football, and basketball, where Batroun has reached Division 2 and aims for Division 1. Bassil praised activities like street basketball, windsurfing, and diving, and mentioned that Batroun hosts Lebanon's largest shooting club, currently holding a competition with 200 participants.
He also spoke about hiking routes, especially the 30km Mseilha trail from the sea to Tannourine, which stalled due to lack of funding after the 2019 protests. Upcoming events include a marathon with 700 participants, a Rally Paper walk in September or October, and new hiking paths in Hamat and Saydet el Nourieh. Work is also underway to fund a biking trail from Barbara and Madfoun to Anfeh.
