Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri met with Deputy US Special Envoy to the Middle East Morgan Ortagus at Ain al-Tineh Palace. The meeting included US Ambassador Lisa Johnson and Speaker's media advisor Ali Hamdan. The discussions focused on the situation on the ground concerning Israeli violations and attacks on Lebanon, which are causing daily casualties and breaching the ceasefire agreement and UN Resolution 1701.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the talks also addressed desired reforms in the financial, economic, and administrative sectors. Berri provided the US envoy with a list of 18 reform laws passed by Parliament, highlighting that other reform bills are still pending. These include bills on restructuring banks, banking secrecy, and administrative reform, specifically the Council for Development and Reconstruction.
Berri described the meeting as "good and constructive." He continued to follow up on political developments and legislative affairs in a subsequent meeting with "Loyalty to the Resistance" bloc member, MP Amin Sherri, and "Development and Liberation" bloc member, MP Mohammed Khawaja.
