Berri Engages in Diplomatic Talks, Thanks Iraq for Support to Lebanon

Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri met today with Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, at Ain al-Tineh Palace to discuss general political and field developments, as well as bilateral relations between the two countries. The meeting underscored the ongoing dialogue and cooperation between Lebanon and Iran.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Speaker Berri also welcomed former Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who visited to extend well-wishes for the Eid El-Fitr occasion. Later in the afternoon, Berri held discussions with Major General Hassan Choucair, Director General of Public Security, focusing on the general security situation and field developments.

During a meeting, Berri contacted Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani to express Lebanon's gratitude for Iraq's assistance in providing petroleum derivatives, 320,000 tons of wheat for free, and hundreds of thousands of food rations. Berri also thanked Iraq for hosting tens of thousands of Lebanese during recent conflicts with Israel.

Berri apologized for not accepting Eid El-Fitr well-wishers due to the ongoing situation in Lebanon and the region, highlighting Israel's continued attacks on Lebanon and its south, violations of the ceasefire agreement, and its actions against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank. He extended his wishes for a blessed Eid El-Fitr to the Lebanese people and the broader Arab and Islamic nations, hoping for unity, stability, and security.
