Britain Announces Sanctions on Israeli Organizations Over West Bank Settlements

London: Britain has imposed sanctions on seven Israeli organizations involved in the construction of colonial sites in the West Bank, a move aimed at addressing serious human rights violations against Palestinians and curbing settler violence. According to Maan News Agency, the British government announced the sanctions on Tuesday, citing the organizations' roles in "providing support for, inciting, promoting, or facilitating activities" that lead to human rights abuses. British Foreign Secretary David Lammy emphasized the necessity of these sanctions due to the Israeli government's lack of action, which he claimed has resulted in increased impunity and ongoing settler violence that has even targeted schools and families with young children. "The Israeli government must take strict measures against settler violence and stop settlement expansion on Palestinian lands," Lammy stated. He highlighted that this is the third round of sanctions Britain has applied concerning settler violence in the West Bank. The sanctions include freezing the assets of the implicated organizations, signaling a firm stance from the UK against the continuation of unauthorized expansions and the violence associated with them in the occupied territories.
