Cabinet approves formation of National Committee on Food and Nutrition Systems

The cabinet held a meeting on Tuesday 11-July-2023 under Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli to approve a number of important decisions.

In its meeting, the cabinet approved a decision on the formation of the National Committee on Food and Nutrition Systems which aims at establishing a national sustainable system for food and nutrition in order to reach to the best nutrition standards and highest indicators of food security by 2030 in Egypt.

The committee will operate upon coordination among the various ministries and state bodies along with experts from non-governmental and relevant international bodies. It will seek to outline strategies and food systems working plans that will be obligatory to all state bodies.

The committee will be chaired by the prime minister and its members will comprise the ministers of foreign affairs, supply and internal trade, health, planning and economic development, international cooperation, solidarity, planning, youth, agriculture, social solidarity, water resources, trade as well as representatives of the defense ministry and the National Authority for Food Safety.
