Cabinet Convenes at Baabda Palace Under President Aoun to Discuss Electoral Amendments, Post-War Relief

Baabda: The Council of Ministers convened its regular session at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Baabda Palace, presided over by President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, and attended by Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, and all ministers. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, prior to the session, President Aoun and Prime Minister Salam held a private meeting to review current political and economic developments ahead of the cabinet discussions. The cabinet's 14-item agenda includes key draft laws, notably the Foreign Ministry's request for approval of an urgent draft law amending provisions of the parliamentary elections law, and the Interior Ministry's request to amend Article 84 of the same law. Ministers will also discuss a proposed mechanism for assessing and compensating damages to residential and non-residential units resulting from Israeli attacks after October 8, 2023, alongside various appointments and other urgent matters requiring immediate decisions.
