Beijing: China's top 500 private enterprises have shown remarkable growth with a focus on innovation, leading to an increase in revenue, according to a recent industry ranking. According to Emirates News Agency, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce unveiled the 2024 list of China's top 500 private enterprises, positioning JD.com, Alibaba, and Hengli Group at the forefront. The report detailed that the total operating income for these enterprises reached 41.91 trillion yuan ($5.93 trillion) in 2023, marking a 5.22 percent increase from the previous year. Additionally, the total assets for these companies were reported at 49.85 trillion yuan, experiencing a growth of 7.64 percent over the last year. The analysis indicated that 66.4 percent of the enterprises on the list are in the manufacturing sector, a figure that has been rising over the past three years. These firms are not only expanding their revenue but are also heavily investing in digital and green transformations. Over 60 percent of the listed companies are currently undergoing digital transformations to optimize their operations and sustainability. The report further highlighted the innovation efforts of these enterprises, noting that total research and development expenditures reached 1.05 trillion yuan. The companies also collectively hold 666,700 valid patents, a 9.39 percent increase compared to the previous year. This survey, which is the 26th of its kind conducted by the federation, involved 9,642 companies each with an annual revenue exceeding 500 million yuan. The release of this list follows the publication of a draft for the private-sector promotion law by China's Ministry of Justice and the National Development and Reform Commission, which was opened for public commentary on October 10th.
