Beirut: The management of Credit Bank S.A.L. clarified in a statement on Saturday that what was circulated via some social media sites regarding the bank's situation and future, following the arrest of the former chairman of the board of directors, is "completely false."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the statement added that the bank wishes to confirm that its current management is headed by an interim director appointed by the Banque du Liban. The interim director is operating under the direct supervision and follow-up by the Higher Banking Authority.
The statement further indicated that the bank's current interim director is working diligently to resolve its situation in a manner that preserves the rights of depositors and employees.
The statement concluded by urging those in charge of media and social media sites to verify the accuracy of news before publishing. It emphasized the importance of refraining from spreading false information, which serves no purpose other than causing moral harm to the bank and its depositors.
