Dr. Amr Al-Laithi calls for emergency meeting to protect religious sanctities

Dr. Amr Al-Laithi, President of the Union of Radios and Televisions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, called for an emergency meeting of the heads of media institutions in the member states of the Union to discuss the necessary mechanisms to confront the desecration of religious sanctities, which was recently embodied in the incident of burning the Holy Book of God in the Swedish capital.

The meeting is scheduled to be held via Zoom technology on the fifth of July. During the meeting, ways to protect religious sanctities and enhance public awareness of their importance will be discussed, in addition to taking practical measures to prevent similar incidents of desecration in the future.

This step comes in response to the urgent need to address these acts that threaten peace and religious and social stability. The call of the President of Islamic Cooperation Radio and Television reflects the organization's commitment to protecting sanctities and promoting peaceful coexistence and mutual respect between religions and cultures.

Participants in the meeting hope that a comprehensive and effective plan of action will be reached to address the desecration of religious sanctities, face future challenges, coordinate efforts and enhance international cooperation in this regard, with the aim of establishing peace and stability and promoting religious understanding among peoples.
