During the past month, the Ministry of National Economy approved the licensing of 14 new factories with an investment value amounting to 13.2 million dollars during the past month, concentrated in the governorates of Jericho, Hebron, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Salfit, Tulkarm, Qalqilya, and Nablus. The report indicated that the number of factories recorded an increase of 55.6% compared to the previous month, and the same percentage compared to the corresponding month for the year 2022 was distributed among several areas of manufacturing industries. New companies The Ministry registered 288 new companies with a total capital of $28.3 million, an increase of 44.7% compared to the previous month and 4.7% compared to the corresponding month of the year 2022, while the capital (declared upon registration) of these companies recorded an increase of 112.8% compared to the previous month. It decreased by 41.2% compared to the same period last year. commercial register The Ministry registered 536 new merchants, females representing 5.6% of the total registered in the commercial registry. An increase of 25.8% in the previous month, and this number recorded a decrease of 10.1% compared to January of 2022. At the governorate level, Hebron Governorate ranked first in terms of the number of new merchants registered in the commercial registry with a rate of 26.9%, followed by Nablus Governorate with a rate of 26.9%. 18.7%, then Tubas Governorate by 13.2% during August 2023. Certificates of origin During the month of August, the Ministry approved 202 certificates of origin for the governorates of the West Bank, worth $10.50 million. The value of certificates of origin increased by 2.9% in August 2023 compared to the previous month, compared to a decrease in this value by 22.2% in the corresponding month of 2022. The number of certificates of origin was also recorded during this month. This month increased by 7.4% compared to the previous month, and this number also increased by 13.5% compared to the corresponding month of 2022. In terms of the most important exported goods that were monitored through certificates of origin approved by the Ministry of National Economy during August 2023, exports of stone and marble products contributed the largest share in terms of number at 33.7%, followed by exports of agricultural products at 23.8%. Value The contribution of exports of mineral products came in first place at 47.2%, and exports of food products came in second place at 15.6% of the total value. Import licenses The Ministry issued 3,704 import licenses during the month of August, for various materials and goods, with a total value of $209 million. An increase of 10.3% compared to the previous month. This number also increased by 6.2% compared to the corresponding month of the year 2022. The value of import licenses also witnessed a decrease of 32.0% compared to the previous month, while this value increased by 37.4% compared to the corresponding month of 2022. Intellectual property rights The General Administration of Intellectual Property deposited 252 trademarks with the Ministry for registration, and 84 new trademarks were registered, while 113 trademarks were renewed more than seven years after their registration. On the other hand, 17 new industrial fees were filed, while 2 new industrial designs were registered, while 2 patents were filed. On the other hand, a value of 219.4 thousand shekels was collected in intellectual property services revenues during the month of August, an increase of 0.9% compared to the previous month, and an increase of 1.7% compared to the corresponding month of the year 2022.
