Beirut: Education Minister Dr. Rima Karami on Monday affirmed that her handling of full-time appointments at the Lebanese University has been based on clear, transparent and fair criteria to ensure eligible professors' rights and institutional stability. She said the long-standing reliance on hourly contracts undermined academic quality and social protections. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Karami explained that 1,653 names were approved by the Cabinet under objective standards, including teaching load, faculty needs and fairness in representation, with implementation set for September 1, 2026. She denied any political interference and announced a formal appeals process, urging political forces to keep the dossier free from electoral politics.
