Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour has hailed as deep-rooted relations between Egypt and China.
During a meeting on Friday 15/09/2023 with the head of the educational and scientific affairs office of the Chinese embassy in Cairo, Ashour said cooperation between the two countries serves mutual understanding and integration and helps to achieve the principles of the educational and scientific research strategy in Egypt.
The two sides discussed cooperation in the scientific research and technological domains, with Ashour pointing out to the importance of promoting partnership in the technical education and technology domains.
They reviewed cooperation programs between the two countries during the past period especially the Luban Workshop and also cooperation between the two countries' universities.
Luban Workshop was established in 2020 at Ain Shams University (ASU) as a means of collaboration between Egypt and China in the field of technology education. The ASU Luban Workshop aims at providing students and graduates from different engineering and technological disciplines hands on experience and practical application in these main fields: CNC machines installation and maintenance; Renewable Energy Installations and Operations; Automotive Inspection and Maintenance; and Autonomous robots (micromouse).
For his part, the Chinese official hailed the progress made in Egyptian-Chinese relations during the past period, noting that the number of Egyptian students studying at Chinese universities reached 2,000 including 1,000 who received scholarships from the Chinese government.
He called for renewing a memo of understanding which the Chinese Ministry of Technology and Sciences and the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research signed in 2016.
