Egyptian PM and Lebanese Deputy PM Discuss Post-War Recovery and Cooperation.

Cairo: Egyptian Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, on Thursday met with Lebanon's Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Saadeh Al-Shami, at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting was attended by Deputy Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk and Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs, Ambassador Ihab Fahmy. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting Lebanon, welcoming the ceasefire that took effect on November 27, 2024. "We are committed to ensuring the ceasefire's continuity and the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701," Madbouly stated, emphasizing Egypt's readiness to aid Lebanon's reconstruction and bolster state institutions. Al-Shami expressed gratitude for Egypt's support during the recent conflict and highlighted the significant cost of rebuilding efforts. He also sought Egypt's expertise in implementing an electronic invoicing system, citing its success in expanding Egypt's tax base and revenue. Egypt's Deputy Fin ance Minister Kouchouk offered to facilitate technical cooperation with Lebanon, proposing immediate consultations between finance teams from both nations. The meeting concluded with Madbouly reiterating Egypt's enduring support for Lebanon's stability and development.
