Egyptian President Calls for Immediate Ceasefire and Humanitarian Aid in Gaza and Lebanon

CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has called for an end to the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon, urging for a ceasefire, the exchange of hostages, and the immediate provision of humanitarian aid. The President emphasized the necessity of these steps during a meeting with a delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives, led by Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole. According to Kuwait News Agency, the Egyptian presidential spokesperson, Ahmed Fahmy, disclosed that the meeting centered on regional conditions. The U.S. delegation expressed interest in President Sisi's views on restoring peace and preventing the conflict from escalating into a broader regional war. El-Sisi highlighted the collaborative efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States over recent periods, pointing to the need for political will and international pressure to make progress towards peace and security. President El-Sisi reiterated that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is crucial for redu cing regional tensions and promoting sustainable peace and security, which are vital for the region's interests. The American delegation commended the strong strategic partnership between the United States and Egypt, applauding Egypt's ongoing peace efforts and reaffirming U.S. support for Egypt in achieving regional stability.
