Beirut:Finance Minister Yassine Jaber chaired a comprehensive meeting to assess the progress in revenue collection, treasury operations, and digital transformation within the Finance Ministry.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the meeting addressed technical and procedural issues impacting the implementation of these initiatives. Participants discussed expanding electronic declarations and services, automating the matching of payments with tax liabilities, and improving information flow between the Treasury, tax departments, and payment channels.
The discussions also included the increased use of electronic payments, particularly foreign-currency transactions. Plans were reviewed to clear accumulated files from previous years and prevent new backlogs. Minister Jaber emphasized the importance of not only identifying problems but also resolving them with clear deadlines and direct follow-up.
Jaber stated that digitalization should be seen as a tool to improve collection, facilitate transactions for citizens and taxpayers, and enhance the efficiency of the state's financial administration. This meeting is part of a series of internal reviews aimed at accelerating implementation and improving the performance of the Finance Ministry's departments.
