Beirut: MP Neemat Frem, chairman of the executive council of the "Project Watan", announced on X that he recently engaged in discussions with Prince Yazid bin Farhan and Saudi Ambassador Walid Al-Bukhari. The meeting focused on several pressing issues impacting Lebanon and the broader region.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Frem revealed that Prince Yazid expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Lebanese government and commended President Joseph Aoun's management during the current period. The prince also affirmed Saudi Arabia's support for disarming non-state actors, emphasizing the complexity of the issue and the need for sustained effort and backing.
The economic situation in Lebanon was another key point of discussion. Frem pointed out a recent increase in economic activity and stressed the importance of restoring confidence through decisive measures to stimulate growth. The conversation also touched on ongoing reforms and the financial gap law, with all parties agreeing on the necessity of passing legislation to address the fiscal shortfall.
Security and trade discussions included a review of the Beirut Port file, securing maritime borders, and the upcoming activation of scanner devices. Frem mentioned that talks are expected to commence soon regarding the resumption of Lebanese exports to Saudi Arabia, which was previously Lebanon's top export market before shipments were halted.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of Saudi tourism to Lebanon. The delegation called for the completion of necessary preparations to welcome visitors throughout the year, including the winter season for snow tourism.
