Nawaf Salam Responds to Criticism Over Customs Appointments

Beirut: Prime Minister Nawaf Salam wrote on the platform "X": "I listened carefully to the voices of those protesting the recent appointments in customs. I want to express here my full understanding of the feelings of concern, especially among the families of the martyrs and victims of the Beirut Port explosion. I affirm to them that my commitment to the full truth in this case is unwavering, and there will be no protection for anyone at the expense of the law.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam emphasized the importance of the presumption of innocence as a fundamental pillar of justice. He stated that unless a verdict is issued against a person, they have the right to exercise their full rights, including appointment in public administrations. However, this cannot serve as a cover for anyone. He called for the judiciary to complete its path with full independence, stressing that when its rulings are issued, it will act accordingly and hold accountable whoever must be held accountable, regardless of the position they occupy.
