Riyadh: Under the patronage and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of the Riyadh Region, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), participated in the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS). The Ministers of Education of the GCC member states, along with heads of regional and international organisations, attended the event.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Secretary General thanked King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for the Kingdom's hosting of ABEGS. He also commended the continuous support provided to the education sector by the GCC leaders, stemming from their firm belief that education is the cornerstone of nation-building, future-making, and the promotion of stability and sustainable development.
Albudaiwi stated that the directives and patronage of the leaders of the GCC member states have enabled Gulf institutions, including the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS), to fulfill their mission and carry out their roles effectively. He commended the participation of colleagues from the Republic of Yemen, noting that over five decades, the Bureau has strengthened its role in supporting education policies, developing curricula, empowering teachers, building educational leadership, and reinforcing Gulf values and identity. He added that the Bureau has kept pace with global developments, particularly digital transformation and artificial intelligence, achievements that have earned the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) international recognition.
The Secretary General expressed appreciation to education sector personnel and Ministries of Education in member states for their cooperation and support, reaffirming his full support for ABEGS and confidence in its continued leadership in shaping future education models rooted in shared values and identity.
