Beirut: Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea has expressed support for President Joseph Aoun's recent statements at Bkerke, particularly his insistence on conducting elections as scheduled. Geagea aligned himself with Aoun's appeal for Parliament to take responsibility by amending the electoral law to facilitate the elections.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Geagea addressed President Aoun directly, highlighting that Speaker Nabih Berri is obstructing any dialogue concerning the proposed amendments. Geagea urged the President to complement his verbal message with a written one, emphasizing that a written communication would be both binding and vital to resolving the current stalemate.
Samir Geagea expressed concern that Speaker Nabih Berri is likely to disregard President Joseph Aoun's verbal appeal for discussions on electoral law changes. He underscored that a written message from the President holds constitutional weight and would compel Parliament to convene within three days.
Geagea noted that only a formal letter could ensure adherence to the impending electoral deadline, unless Berri unexpectedly opts to take action. His comments were made during a dinner event for the Aley region at the Lebanese Forces headquarters in Maarab.
