Beirut: During a ceremony organized by Hezbollah to honor the martyrs of Breyqaa on ‘Martyr’s Day,’ MP Hussein Jashi of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc emphasized the critical role of the Lebanese Army’s steadfastness. He praised its officers and soldiers who stood firm at the Martyr Farhat barracks in Kfardounine against enemy threats.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Jashi stressed that the army’s readiness depends on political will and adequate resources. He called for an independent political decision to arm the army against Israeli aggression, free from external pressures, highlighting the state’s responsibility to protect its citizens as practiced worldwide.
Rejecting the notion that Lebanon’s strength lies in its weakness, the MP said political and diplomatic deterrence alone is insufficient. He pointed to ongoing Israeli attacks since 1948 and the failure of international resolutions to stop massacres, underscoring the need for military strength.
