The statement characterizes these accusations as 'false and groundless' and criticizes the dissemination of such information as part of a 'suspicious campaign' aimed at tarnishing Mr. Itani's reputation.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the statement emphasizes that ongoing judicial investigations are legally confidential until officially concluded. It accuses those spreading the allegations of undermining Mr. Itani's reputation without due process. The statement argues that any legal actions taken in this context, without proper summoning and without allowing Mr. Itani to present his defense, would violate constitutional rights and principles of a fair trial.
The office of Mr. Itani also clarified that he holds no direct or indirect connections to any companies implicated in the alleged case, with official documents reportedly supporting his non-involvement. The statement underscores Mr. Itani's ongoing compliance with legal procedures, highlighting his history of appearing in court when summoned and his reliance on the judiciary to dispute unfounded allegations.
Mr. Itani expressed confidence in the Lebanese judicial system and its independent judges, asserting his belief that the courts will address any attempts to misuse the judiciary for personal attacks.
