amman: The Independent Election Commission (IEC), led by Deputy Chairman Ammar Husseini, recently convened an in-depth evaluation session with accredited local observers to review the 2024 Lower House of Parliament election process. The meeting aimed to discuss ways to improve future election quality by addressing both positive aspects and areas needing improvement. According to Jordan News Agency, Husseini highlighted the significance of leveraging observers' insights, stating, "You have been in the field since the beginning of the electoral process, closely observing the procedures, and we seek to benefit from your observations to achieve tangible improvements." IEC member Abeer Dababneh added that the commission is conducting an internal evaluation to enhance the electoral process in alignment with national interests, promising serious consideration of observers' feedback. Local observers appreciated the session's focus on crucial topics, including the evaluation of executive instructions and their imple mentation, as well as assessing women's participation and the involvement of female observers in monitoring the electoral process. They commended the IEC's cooperative approach and the positive facilitation of procedures by electoral committees. At the conclusion of the session, observers submitted various observations aimed at refining monitoring mechanisms and increasing transparency. They emphasized that integrating these recommendations could significantly enhance the experience of the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
