Manama: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Civil Defence Council, chaired a significant meeting of the Civil Defence Council aimed at enhancing civil protection measures and public safety initiatives.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was attended by several key ministers, including Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy; and others from various governmental departments. The focus of the meeting was on reviewing the latest developments in the Wireless Alerts for Early Emergency Warning project, which aims to bolster national readiness and integration across sectors to ensure public safety.
The Wireless Alerts project is seen as a major advancement in emergency communication, providing critical information to citizens and residents before, during, and after emergencies. The Council assessed procedures, scenarios, and the roles of government bodies in the strategic pillars of emergency preparedness and response. The project aims to deliver emergency alerts swiftly to all citizens and residents, marking a significant improvement in public safety measures.
Additionally, the Council discussed the necessary procedures and implementation work required to activate the service in the coming period, following the completion of infrastructure and operational needs. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah highlighted the importance of trial operations and defining emergency areas for the system's phased implementation. The project aligns with international best practices in civil protection and emergency management, reflecting the ongoing commitment to citizen safety and digital infrastructure development.
The Minister of Interior emphasized the role of early warning systems as part of comprehensive community awareness programs. These systems are designed to deliver alerts through multiple channels, provide updated risk data, and facilitate information exchange among relevant authorities. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah expressed gratitude to the Council members for their efforts in developing coordination mechanisms, enhancing preventive measures, and ensuring preparedness to address potential risks, thereby increasing safety levels for all citizens and residents.
