Beirut: Caretaker Interior Minister, Bassam Mawlawi, engaged in crucial discussions with members of the Democratic Gathering bloc, focusing on strategies to manage the ongoing refugee crisis amid the war in Lebanon. The meeting included MPs Wael Abu Faour and Bilal Abdullah, along with Progressive Socialist Party Secretary General Zafer Nasser. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the talks centered on the security and service measures implemented by the Ministry of Interior's security agencies. During the engagement, PSP leader Taymour Jumblatt contacted Minister Mawlawi, emphasizing the need for continued coordination between the Democratic Gathering and the Ministry's security branches to effectively address the refugee situation. In addition to the discussions on displaced persons, Minister Mawlawi also held a separate meeting with MP Alain Aoun, indicating a broader consultation with political figures regarding internal security and management of the refugee influx.
