Interior Minister of Bahrain Welcomes Lebanese Counterpart to Discuss Enhanced Security Cooperation

Manama: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, received Ahmad Al Hajjar, Minister of Interior and Municipalities of the Lebanese Republic, and his accompanying delegation. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah welcomed the Lebanese official and the accompanying delegation to the Kingdom of Bahrain. He expressed hope that the visit would contribute to enhancing security cooperation and coordination within the framework of the relations between the two countries, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency President General Joseph Aoun of the Lebanese Republic.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Interior Minister emphasised Bahrain's firm stance towards Lebanon, which is based on supporting measures that preserve its security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He commended the ties between the two countries and the commitment to further develop them for the benefit of shared security.

He noted that the joint discussions between the Ministries of Interior contribute to increasing cooperation and coordination across various areas of security work, to protect the security and stability of both countries. He underlined the importance of discussing common security challenges and taking the necessary measures within the framework of strengthening joint Arab security efforts. He wished the Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities and the accompanying delegation a successful visit aimed at enhancing prospects for security cooperation and achieving common interests to maintain security and stability.

On his part, Minister Al Hajjar underlined the longstanding ties of cooperation between the two countries. He noted his commitment to enhance cooperation mechanisms, coordination, and the exchange of expertise between the Lebanese and Bahraini sides.

Both sides discussed several important security issues, aiming to enhance cooperation and coordination across various security sectors and improve performance in addressing security challenges and the rapidly evolving regional and international landscape. The discussions also covered several topics of joint cooperation.

The Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities had arrived in the Kingdom of Bahrain earlier, where he was received at Bahrain International Airport by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah and several senior officials from the Interior Ministry.
