BAGHDAD: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi have emphasized their countries’ dedication to resolving the ongoing conflicts in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. In a recent meeting, both leaders discussed strategies to prevent further escalation in the region and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.
According to Kuwait News Agency, during the discussions, Al-Sudani highlighted the Iraqi government’s efforts, in cooperation with international partners, to stop the aggression in the affected areas. “The top priority for the Iraqi government is to end the aggression of the Israeli occupation, prevent the spread of the conflict to other parts of the Middle East and ensure delivery of humanitarian aid,” Al-Sudani stated. He also expressed concerns about the Israeli occupation’s intentions to widen the scope of the conflict.
On his part, Araghchi, who also met with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, reiterated Iran’s support for Iraq’s init
iatives. He underscored the importance of their collaboration to stabilize the region and handle the crisis effectively. “Iran supports Iraq’s efforts to prevent further spread of the conflict,” Araghchi affirmed.
The meetings between these high-level officials underscore a significant cooperative effort between Iraq and Iran to address and de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, focusing particularly on the volatile situations in Gaza and Lebanon.
