Tel aviv: Israeli sources have confirmed that the Israeli occupation army is set to issue approximately 60,000 call-up orders to reserve soldiers as part of preparations to occupy Gaza City. This mobilization follows the approval of a military plan named "Gideon 2" by Defense Minister Yisrael Katz.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the decision to mobilize reserve soldiers was made after consultations involving senior Israeli military and security officials, with the process based on a decision from the Security Cabinet. The call-up orders are expected to be dispatched tomorrow, while the soldiers' enlistment is scheduled for the beginning of September, around two weeks from now. Additionally, the service of another 20,000 soldiers is set to be extended for an additional 40 days.
The operational phases of this plan were outlined earlier this week by Israeli Army Chief Eyal Zamir. These phases include reinforcing Israeli forces in the northern Gaza Strip as part of the preparation for the occupation of Gaza City. This strategy aligns with a decision made on August 8, which involved presenting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's proposal for a gradual reoccupation of the Gaza Strip, beginning with Gaza City.
The plan also involves displacing approximately one million Palestinian citizens from Gaza City to the southern Gaza Strip. Following this displacement, the area will be encircled, and incursions into residential areas will commence.
