Jerusalem: Israel's Channel 14 has disclosed details of a significant geopolitical development involving Israel's recognition of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state. According to the channel, this recognition is part of an agreement where Somaliland will accept residents from the Gaza Strip. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the announcement marks the beginning of diplomatic relations between Israel and Somaliland. This includes the opening of embassies, the exchange of ambassadors, and a strategy for cooperation across various sectors. The non-political dimensions of this cooperation are also noteworthy, with plans to enhance collaboration in agriculture, technology, healthcare systems, and trade, facilitated by Israeli expertise and joint projects. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his approval of the agreement by congratulating Somaliland's president and leadership. He praised their efforts in promoting stability and peace and extended an invitation for an of ficial visit to Israel. In contrast, U.S. President Donald Trump has voiced his opposition to recognizing Somaliland's independence in an interview with the New York Post. When asked if he would follow Netanyahu's decision, Trump responded negatively, questioning the global awareness of Somaliland's status. Despite this, he mentioned that "everything is under consideration" and emphasized his confidence in making the right decisions after careful evaluation.
