the Jerusalem Governorate Electricity Company extends its warmest congratulations and blessings to the Palestinian people and to all official and local authorities on the occasion of UNESCO’s inclusion of the Old Jericho (Sultan Hill) site on the World Heritage List.
The Jerusalem Company praises the great efforts made by the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and the Municipality of Jericho to contribute to including this archaeological site on the international list.
Jerusalem Electricity also confirms its continued use of all its capabilities to support the efforts of local authorities, especially the Jericho Municipality, in order to preserve the historical national heritage, and to contribute to conveying the historical image of Palestine in all international forums and events.
The company also confirms that its support for the efforts of local authorities comes in the context of its societal and national responsibility and its keenness to preserve all historical sites and cultural heritage.
This success came during the forty-fifth session of the World Heritage Committee held in Riyadh - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and thus the State of Palestine now has five Palestinian sites officially registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List after Jerusalem (the Old City and its walls) and Bethlehem (the birthplace of Jesus Christ: Church of the Nativity and Pilgrims' Path), Battir (Palestine, Land of Grapes and Olives: The Cultural Landscape of South Jerusalem) and Hebron (Old City of Hebron)
