AMMAN: Jordan’s government has approved amendments exempting net income from the export of several services from income tax until 2033. These changes are anticipated to boost the nation’s digital economy and increase its global competitiveness, according to industry leaders.
According to Jordan News Agency, Haitham Ruwajbeh, the representative of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, stated that the Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, passed these amendments on Saturday. The decision is part of Jordan’s initiative to strengthen the business environment and attract investment, particularly in the ICT sector. The amendments will now undergo further legislative procedures as they have been referred to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau.
Ruwajbeh highlighted that the exemption includes net income from services such as IT, economic studies, legal and engineering consultancy, and arbitration. He emphasized that these exemptions are crucial for fost

Additionally, he mentioned that the exemption of international arbitration services and online services is part of an effort to attract foreign companies to establish regional offices in Jordan. This strategy is expected to enhance the local economy and create more job opportunities.
Ruwajbeh also noted that these amendments would not only improve Jordan’s export balance but also provide crucial employment opportunities, especially in the growing digital sector. The tax exemptions are seen as a measure to enhance the competitiveness of Jordanian companies globally.
‘These changes are not just financial measures but a call for the private sector to invest in the future and explore new horizons in the world of digital services,’ Ruwajbeh ad

He reiterated that, aligning with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision, the country aims to become a regional hub for digital innovation and entrepreneurial solutions, offering scalable digital services to the region and supporting digital transformation initiatives across neighboring countries.
