Beirut: Jordan announced today, Saturday, the postponement of the visit of the Arab foreign ministers' delegation to Ramallah, following an Israeli obstruction.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained in a statement today that members of the ministerial committee assigned by the extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit on Gaza will arrive in Amman this evening for a visit aimed at holding a coordination meeting ahead of a planned visit to Ramallah departing from Amman tomorrow Sunday.
The statement indicated that "the committee decided to postpone the visit to Ramallah in light of Israel's obstruction of its visit by refusing the delegation entry through the airspace of the occupied West Bank, which is controlled by Israel."
The delegation affirmed in a joint statement today that 'Israel's decision to prevent the delegation from visiting Ramallah and meeting with President Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, and Palestinian officials, represents a flagrant violation of Israel's obligations as the occupying power, and reflects the extent of the Israeli government's arrogance, its disregard for international law, and its continued illegal measures and policies that besiege the brotherly Palestinian people and their legitimate leadership, and perpetuate the occupation, and undermines the chances of achieving a just and comprehensive peace," according to the agency.
