Beirut:The Chairman of the Parliamentary Finance and Budget Committee, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, hosted a meeting at the Parliament with French Presidential Special Envoy for Economic Affairs, Jacques de Lajugie. The French delegation included the French Embassy's Economic Affairs Counselor, Jean-Baptiste Chauvel, alongside other embassy representatives.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the discussions focused on reform-related dossiers, emphasizing financial legislation approved by Parliament. Key topics included banking secrecy, banking sector reform, and the "financial gap law," a draft under review with the International Monetary Fund, the Ministry of Finance, and Banque du Liban.
Kanaan expressed gratitude towards France for its support of Lebanon, highlighting the importance of continued cooperation to achieve an implementable agreement with the International Monetary Fund. The aim is to establish a framework that ensures depositors' rights and restores confidence in Lebanon's financial system.
