Kuwait Affirms Commitment to Combat Transnational Organized Crime at UN Conference

VIENNA: The State of Kuwait has reiterated its commitment to supporting international initiatives aimed at combating transnational organized crime, as articulated by a senior Kuwaiti diplomat during a recent United Nations conference. According to Kuwait News Agency, Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the UN in Vienna, Ambassador Talal Al-Fassam, stated that the country's participation in the 12th UN Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) conference, which concluded last Friday, underscored its dedication to global efforts in this area. Ambassador Al-Fassam emphasized that the threat posed by organized crime, which spans borders and regions, necessitates comprehensive cooperation among nations and international bodies such as Interpol. Ambassador Al-Fassam further disclosed that Kuwait is continually working to strengthen its capabilities to combat organized crime, including crimes perpetrated in cyberspace. This ongoing effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance national and region al security. In conjunction with the conference, representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries engaged in discussions with UN agencies focused on crime prevention and the fight against illicit drug trafficking. These meetings aimed to explore collaborative strategies to bolster security and combat crime more effectively.
