Kuwait Calls for Accountability of Israeli Actions in Palestine and Lebanon

UNITED NATIONS: Kuwait has urged the international community to take unified action in holding Israel accountable for alleged crimes committed in Palestine and Lebanon. The call was made during a speech presented by Zeina al-Dalloum, a diplomatic attaché at Kuwait's permanent mission to the United Nations, before the sixth political committee of legal affairs. According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Dalloum described the actions of the Israeli occupation as genocide and crimes against humanity targeting Palestinian and Lebanese peoples. She criticized the international community's silence regarding what she termed as crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip, which have persisted for over a year. Al-Dalloum further condemned Israeli aggression in Lebanon, which she claimed violated Lebanon's sovereignty and resulted in civilian casualties. The Kuwaiti diplomat emphasized the importance of recognizing Palestinians' rights to self-determination and establishing an independent state based on the June 4, 1967 borde rs, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Al-Dalloum asserted that this step is crucial for maintaining international peace and security. Kuwait's dedication to justice and the rule of law was highlighted, including its participation in discussions before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) concerning the impact of Israeli occupation policies on Palestinian territories. Al-Dalloum noted that adherence to the rule of law is vital for achieving sustainable development, economic growth, and the protection of human rights. She also highlighted the role of women in Kuwait, noting their involvement in the judicial, executive, and legislative branches of government. Additionally, she mentioned Kuwait's progress in digitization with the launch of the "Sahl" app to facilitate services. Al-Dalloum concluded by reiterating Kuwait's commitment to upholding laws and international charters that support the rule of law, justice, and equality.
