KUWAIT CITY: The price of Kuwaiti oil rose slightly by eight cents to reach USD 74.30 per barrel on Friday, as reported by the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC). This increase contrasts with the global trend, where major crude prices saw declines. According to Kuwait News Agency, while Kuwait's oil price experienced a modest uptick, Brent crude decreased by USD 1.39, settling at USD 73.06 per barrel. Similarly, West Texas Intermediate crude fell by USD 1.45, closing at USD 69.22 per barrel. The downward pressure on these international benchmarks was attributed to weaker demand forecasts from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the International Energy Agency (IEA). Additional contributing factors included the slowing economic growth in China and indications of easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, both of which have tempered market demand. The variation in oil prices highlights the unique dynamics in the global oil market, influenced by a complex interplay of regiona l factors and international demand forecasts. The Kuwaiti oil market's resilience amidst global declines underscores the nation's strategic positioning within the global energy landscape.
