Kuwait Skiers Triumph with Six Medals at Dubai Championship

DUBAI: Kuwait's ice skiing team achieved significant success at the Dubai International Free Skiing Championship, securing six medals in the competition that concluded on Saturday. The triumph was largely driven by the performances of sisters Salil and Safaa Abdullah in the women's events. According to Kuwait News Agency, Salil Abdullah earned a gold medal and two silver medals, while her sister Safaa won a gold, a silver, and a bronze medal. Their fellow team member, Salman al-Kandari, achieved a tenth-place finish. The siblings' achievements were highlighted in the free ski slopestyle and free ski rail events, marking a notable advancement for Kuwait in the international skiing arena. Salil Abdullah expressed her satisfaction with the results in an interview, noting the progress made in the specific skiing disciplines. Meanwhile, Safaa Abdullah highlighted the intense competition with participants from the United Arab Emirates, who delivered exceptional performances. She expressed her joy at winning the m edals and extended her gratitude to the Kuwait Winter Games Club for their support. The tournament witnessed participation from teams representing Bahrain, Macedonia, Belgium, Latvia, Greece, Estonia, Poland, Thailand, in addition to the UAE and Kuwait. The event showcased a diverse array of skiing talents and underscored Kuwait's growing prominence in the winter sports domain.
