Kuwaiti Official Highlights Arab Unity in 1973 October War

KUWAIT CITY: Participation in the October War of 1973 demonstrated true Arab solidarity, creating a victory that stands as a historic epic, declared a Kuwaiti official on Sunday. According to Kuwait News Agency, Maj. Gen. Khaled Saad, Commander of the Air Defense Force and representative of the Chief of General Staff of Kuwait's Armed Forces, Lt.-Gen. Bander Al-Muzain, delivered a speech during a festival at the Egyptian Embassy commemorating the 51st anniversary of the October War victory. He emphasized that the events of October 1973 represent some of the most significant victories in modern history, as they restored pride to the Arab nation and Egyptians by reclaiming Egypt's Sinai Peninsula. Maj. Gen. Saad also recalled Kuwait's supportive stance towards Egypt during this period. Kuwaiti soldiers fought bravely alongside Egyptians, particularly as Egypt's air forces targeted the Bar-Lev Line, he noted. The remarks underscored the critical role that Kuwait played in supporting Egypt during the conflict. Military attaché at the Egyptian Embassy to Kuwait, Colonel Moustafa Al-Dallal, echoed these sentiments in his speech, highlighting the anniversary as strong evidence of Arab solidarity. He emphasized Kuwait's financial support and the dispatch of its soldiers to the frontline, along with media and diplomatic backing. The festival also included a ceremony honoring the relatives of Kuwaiti martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the war, which was launched by Egypt and Syria against Israel. The event served as a reminder of the broader Arab support for Egypt during the conflict.
