KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait’s Sheikha Salwa Al-Sabah Stem Cell and Umbilical Cord Centre has achieved international recognition, being awarded accreditation for molecular testing by the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB), a notable U.S.-based organization, as announced by the country’s health ministry.
According to Kuwait News Agency, this accreditation marks a significant milestone, with the center becoming the first facility in the Arab region and the second outside the United States to receive such an honor. Dr. Reem Al-Radhwan, the chief of the ministry’s blood transfusion department, emphasized that this recognition represents progress in the field of stem cell treatment.
Dr. Al-Radhwan highlighted that the AABB accreditation is expected to facilitate the development of more innovative and effective treatments related to stem cell therapy and umbilical cord care.
