Beirut: On the eve of World Radio Day, which falls on February 13, Minister of Information Dr. Paul Morcos confirmed that "radio will remain a key pillar in the media landscape, despite the transformations brought by modern and digital media." According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Minister Morcos emphasized that news originally emerged through traditional media, such as newspapers and radio, noting that "the airwaves never die." While their reach has diminished with the rise of digital platforms, "radio remains relevant and continues to be valued by a broad audience, particularly the older generation, who still rely on listening to the radio and reading newspapers." Morcos stressed that "the challenge today is to preserve radio and traditional media in general," explaining that "traditional media refers not only to the format but also to the authenticity of the content, accuracy, professionalism, and adherence to media ethics, which often distinguish it from certain forms of digital media." Morcos e mphasized that "the Ministry of Information places special importance on audio media," explaining that "after putting Télé Liban on the right track with the appointment of a new management-the first in 27 years, since 1999-and upgrading the National News Agency, the ministry's current focus is on Radio Lebanon, working to develop it technically, technologically, and professionally in a manner that reflects its status, role, and significance in the media landscape." The Minister added, "Radio is still present in cars, homes, and institutions," emphasizing that "the connection to it will persist, with the need to develop radio operations and keep pace with technological advancements." The Minister of Information concluded by saying, "Today, in 2026, we take pride in Lebanese media and all media professionals," urging them to "keep giving, achieve further success, and elevate Lebanon's name both at home and abroad, especially in Arab countries, where their active presence shines in various fields of media."
