Beirut: Minister of Culture Dr. Ghassan Salam© received in his office at the National Library in Sanayeh, in the presence of the Ministry's Director General, Dr. Ali Al-Samad, the Mayor of Tripoli, Abdul Hamid Karima, the head of the Municipality's Cultural Committee, Bassem Zouda, and a delegation from the Old Tripoli Foundation, including lawyer Lubna Maskawi, engineer Munther Hamza, and Rima Suleiman. The meeting addressed the situation of Tripoli, particularly the old city, including its citadel and archaeological sites.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, following the meeting, Mayor Karima expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to discuss the issues facing Tripoli with Minister Salam©. He highlighted the Minister's interest in the cultural and historical aspects of the city, especially the old city. Karima acknowledged the Minister's efforts in securing funding for the restoration of the city's archaeological sites and expressed optimism that these efforts will soon come to fruition.
Karima also mentioned the discussion of potential activities to be held under the Minister's auspices, with a particular focus on the old city and in coordination with the State of Egypt. These activities aim to further promote the cultural heritage of Tripoli and enhance its visibility on a larger scale.
