Beirut: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants has begun the process of compiling a scientific and legal dossier to document the environmental and health damage caused by the spraying of toxic substances and pesticides over agricultural lands and orchards in several Lebanese villages by Israeli forces. This initiative follows directives from the President of the Republic.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Ministry is coordinating efforts with the Ministries of Agriculture, Environment, and Public Health, alongside relevant scientific and research institutions. The goal is to assemble a comprehensive dossier that details these violations and examines the nature of the substances used. The investigation will determine if these substances breach international laws by comparing them with lists of banned substances under applicable international conventions and treaties.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also collaborate with relevant authorities to meticulously document the impacted areas. This includes assessing the health, environmental, and agricultural repercussions of these substances on people, soil, vegetation cover, and water resources. Upon completion, the Ministry intends to present an official complaint to the United Nations Security Council against Israel.
