Mitri Bound for Seville to Partake in “International Conference on Financing for Development”

Beirut: Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri left Beirut this morning for Seville, where he will be representing President Joseph Aoun, heading a Lebanese delegation, at the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, seventy heads of state and government and 4,000 experts and representatives from international institutions, humanitarian organizations, and associations will participate in the conference, which will run from June 30 to July 4, 2025.

The conference will address the large financial gap facing developing countries and ways to rescue development financing, especially for humanitarian organizations experiencing a major crisis. It will also address ways to stimulate investment by doubling development loans.

The conference will adopt the "Seville Commitment" on the debt crisis in developing countries, many of which spend more on debt interest than on basic services.
