Morcos Inspects Information Ministry’s Departments: Full Respect for Constitutional Entitlements Expected During Mandate

Beirut: Information Minister Paul Morcos toured Saturday the Ministry's departments to review the team's progress during the long election day, praising the efforts of editors, reporters, and administrators.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Minister Morcos was received by NNA Director Ziad Harfoush during his visit to the National News Agency. Harfoush explained the workflow in the agency's various sections, particularly regarding the monitoring of the electoral process through the tireless efforts of its editors and reporters.

The Minister also visited the offices of the General Directorate of Information and the Lebanese Directorate of Studies and Publications. His tour concluded at "Radio Lebanon" studio, where Minister Morcos gave a special live interview, which was broadcast by T©l© Liban and the National News Agency. Morcos thanked all the Information Ministry's staff for their relentless efforts and dedication in their respective roles. He emphasized the importance of national media in conveying images, sounds, and movement to the people, despite limited resources.

Morcos expressed reassurance that Radio Lebanon remains resilient, thanks to those behind its airwaves, and emphasized the non-biased nature of national media. He highlighted the government's commitment to electoral deadlines and constitutional entitlements under President Joseph Aoun's mandate, asserting that elections are held without favors and with full respect for constitutional entitlements.

Addressing the people of southern Lebanon, Morcos acknowledged their sacrifices and emphasized the importance of holding elections on the appropriate date and place. He mentioned the allocation of a fund to secure necessary resources through visits by governmental leaders abroad.

Regarding parliamentary elections law, Morcos clarified the separation of executive and legislative powers and their cooperative roles. He also commented on the changing situation in the country, noting improvements with the planned disarmament of Palestinian camps and the Lebanese Army's extended authority in the south. Morcos mentioned that Army Commander General Rodolphe Heikal presented to the cabinet the army's authority in the south with supporting facts, figures, and documents.
