Reyhanieh: Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nassereddine, on Tuesday visited the Permanent Care Center in Reyhanieh, where he was welcomed by the center's president Mona Hraoui, members of the executive board, former minister and Vice President of Alwaleed Philanthropies Leila Solh Hamadeh, and Mrs. Sahar Baassiri Salam, spouse of the Prime Minister. The visit aimed to review the center's medical and social services, which for over 30 years have provided care for thalassemia and type 1 diabetes patients across Lebanon, serving more than 3,500 beneficiaries. A tour covered the blood bank, research unit, genetic lab, and clinics, highlighting advanced treatments and awareness campaigns.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Hraoui underscored the importance of renewed cooperation with the Health Ministry and announced that the center had again been recognized by the Arab Diabetes Union for its high-quality standards. Solh praised Hraoui's leadership and longstanding dedication, while Baassiri Salam lauded the center's impact on patients' well-being.
Minister Nassereddine hailed the center's efforts, confirming the ministry's renewed support and continuous provision of essential medication for thalassemia and diabetes patients. He further announced plans to cover bone marrow transplants for all Lebanese at 100%, expand kidney transplant coverage, and pursue additional drug procurement to improve patient care nationwide.
