The Sultanate of Oman has expressed its strong condemnation of the persistent desecration of copies of the Holy Qur'an by a group of extremists in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The desecration of the holy book took place in front of embassies in The Hague. Oman voiced its rejection of such repeated provocations of Muslims' feelings and sacrilege of their sanctities, noting that such acts constitute an incitement to violence and hatred. A statement to this effect was issued today by the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman, which reiterated its plea to the international community to take a more solid stance by criminalizing all acts that incite hatred and hostility towards religions and cultures. Oman stressed that such acts contradict the values of peaceful coexistence and tolerance among communities, thus posing an obstacle to building a world where peace and mutual respect prevail.
