OQ Breaks Ground on Strategic Fuel Storage Project in Musandam

MUSANDAM: OQ, a global integrated energy group, has commenced construction of a Strategic Fuel Storage Project in Musandam, investing over RO 78 million (approximately USD 204 million). The initiative, inaugurated by Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, aims to ensure a reliable fuel supply in emergencies and supports sustainable economic growth amid rising fuel demands. According to Oman News Agency, the facility will have a storage capacity of over 14,536 cubic metres, accommodating various fuels such as gasoline (91 and 95), oil gas, and jet fuel. The project is designed to meet the increasing needs driven by population growth and expanding commercial activities. Al Busaidi emphasized the project's importance in securing Musandam's fuel supply for both nationals and residents. Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, noted that the project aligns with the ministry's efforts to ensure petroleum product availability, particularly during emergencies. He highlighted the colla boration between the ministry and OQ Group in addressing the rising local demand for fuel products. Ashraf Hamed Al Mamari, Group CEO of OQ, remarked that this development adds to OQ Group's existing investments in Musandam, which exceed RO 800 million. He reiterated OQ's dedication to advancing energy sustainability and effectively responding to the governorate's growing energy needs.
